The Department of Ophthalmology has an immediate opening for a Postdoctoral Associate. Duties include
study the pathogenesis of ocular surface infections under the supervision of the P.I. Conduct bench research
on microbial communities colonizing ocular surface in humans and animals.
Ph.D is required and although no experience is required, three years of laboratory experience in molecular
biology, advanced DNA and RNA manipulations, amplicon DNA/cDNA library construction, next-generation
sequencing genomics, microbiome informatics and programming is highly preferred. Additional experience
with DNA/RNA manipulations and analysis, immunohistochemistry, immunoblotting, PCR, confocal microscopy
and other common techniques is preferred. Ideal candidates should be able to plan and manage their own
project; is well organized and motivated to pursue a scientific research carrier. Experience with microbial
phylogenetic analysis using current software packages and services are required. Must have the ability to work
independently and have good communication skills, verbal and written, and a good publication record.
Any appropriate combination of education, certifications, and/or relevant work experience will be considered.
